Bangalore to Vellore Cab

For most people in Bangalore, a trip to Vellore means one of three things: a visit to the Christian Medical College hospital, a trip to the VIT campus, or darshan at the Sripuram Golden Temple. The town is about 210 km away on NH 48, roughly four to four and a half hours by road. Our Bangalore to Vellore cab is planned around these needs, with early pickups for hospital appointments, roomy cars for patients and their families, drivers who know the hospital and campus areas, and the option to wait for a same-day return.

One-way fares include fuel and driver allowance (minimum 130 km). Round-trip fares are for the same car returning to Bangalore, billed at the round-trip rate with a daily minimum. Tolls, parking and interstate permits are extra where they apply. Tempo Travellers, Urbania and mini buses are available for round trips.

Travelling for treatment at CMC

CMC Vellore is one of India's best-known hospitals, and patients from across the country come for consultations, tests and surgery. Many of them travel through Bangalore. If you are taking a patient to CMC, a few things make the journey smoother:

  • Leave early. Registration and outpatient queues start early in the morning, so a pickup between 3 and 4 am from Bangalore is common for morning appointments.
  • Choose space. An Innova or Innova Crysta lets a patient recline or stretch, with room for a companion and a wheelchair if needed.
  • Know your campus. CMC operates from its main hospital in the town and from additional campuses outside the centre. Check which one your appointment is at, and tell the driver.
  • Plan for waiting. If you want the driver to wait and bring you back the same day, book a round trip; hospital visits often run longer than expected.

Many families stay in Vellore for several days or weeks during treatment. In that case, a one-way drop on arrival and a separate return booking when the patient is discharged may be the simplest approach. Our support line is available round the clock if discharge dates change.

VIT and other colleges

VIT's Vellore campus at Katpadi draws students from all over India. On admission and hostel move-in days, families travel with luggage, buckets and bedding. An Ertiga or Innova is ideal, and the driver can drop you right at the hostel gate, subject to campus rules on the day.

Sripuram and the temples of Vellore

The Sripuram Golden Temple, dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi Narayani, is covered in gold and set in star-shaped gardens on the town's southern edge. It is best seen in the evening when it is lit up. The Jalakandeswarar temple inside Vellore Fort is famous for its carvings. Many Bangalore families plan a day trip that covers both, with lunch in town, and return home the same night.

The road from Bangalore

The route is straightforward: Hosur Road out of the city, across the border at Attibele, then NH 48 through Krishnagiri, Vaniyambadi and Ambur to Vellore. It is a busy, divided highway with no ghat or forest sections. Krishnagiri is the usual breakfast stop, and Ambur is well known for its biryani. The trip can be made at any hour.

Yelagiri: a hill escape nearby

Yelagiri, a small hill station near Jolarpettai, is reached by a ghat road with 14 hairpin bends from the highway between Vaniyambadi and Krishnagiri. Families accompanying patients sometimes take a half day here for fresh air, and it also works as a quiet weekend destination from Bangalore.

Interstate permit and charges

A Karnataka taxi travelling to Vellore needs a Tamil Nadu interstate permit, which we arrange in advance. The permit and the toll plazas on NH 48 are typically listed separately from the base fare. Fuel and driver bata are already part of what you are quoted.

Coming back from Vellore

Return pickups can be arranged from the hospital, your lodge or the temple at any hour. If a patient is being discharged, the timing is often uncertain until the last moment, so a quick call or WhatsApp message a few hours ahead is enough for us to line up a vehicle. For late-evening departures after a Sripuram visit, drivers usually reach Bangalore around midnight.

Vehicles

For patients

Small things that help

Carry copies of medical records and appointment slips in a folder you can reach without opening the boot. Pack food and water for an early-morning start, since few places are open before dawn. And save the driver's number and ours on your phone so you can coordinate pickups from the hospital.

Highlights on the way

  • Early-morning pickups for CMC appointments
  • Spacious, patient-friendly vehicles on request
  • Drops at CMC campuses, VIT Katpadi or Sripuram
  • Same-day return or one-way drop options
  • Busy but simple NH 48 route with no ghat sections
