Book a private cab from Bangalore to Mysore with pickup from your home, office, hotel or Kempegowda Airport. Most of the 145 km is on the Bengaluru–Mysuru Expressway, so once you are out of the city the drive takes about two and a half hours. Choose a one-way drop, a same-day sightseeing round trip or a longer trip with Coorg or Ooty added. Each car's fare is shown below; toll and parking are extra.

One-way fares are charged on at least 130 km. Round-trip fares are for the same car returning to Bangalore (290 km over 1 day, with a daily minimum). Toll, parking and state permit are extra.
Bangalore → Bidadi → Ramanagara → Channapatna → Maddur → Mandya → Srirangapatna → Mysore
Main road: NH 275 (Bengaluru–Mysuru Expressway)
The expressway starts near Kengeri on Mysore Road. How long you take to reach it depends on where you start:
Leaving before 7 am on a weekday, or before 8 am at the weekend, usually saves close to an hour.
The expressway bypasses the towns on the way, which is why the drive is quick. If you want breakfast at Bidadi, toys from Channapatna or a Maddur vada, tell the driver; the service road runs through each town and rejoins the expressway. Two toll plazas sit on the expressway; tolls are paid at actuals and are not part of the fare.
With a 6 am start, this plan fits in one day and gets you home the same night:
Book this as a round trip so the same car and driver stay with you all day. Sightseeing inside Mysore adds distance; the round-trip fare above is for the return drive, and extra kilometres are charged at the car's per-km rate.
A one-way drop suits you if you are staying in Mysore, moving on by train, or will book a return separately. A round trip is better value when you come back within a day or two, or want the car for sightseeing. Families with luggage usually choose an Ertiga or Innova; for groups of 10 or more, Tempo Travellers are available for round trips.
Mysore Dasara (September or October) brings the biggest crowds of the year, with road diversions on procession day. Book early for these dates and for long weekends, and ask us about drop points near your hotel when roads are closed.
October to February is the most comfortable time, with cool mornings and clear days for sightseeing. Dasara (September or October) is spectacular but crowded, so book well ahead. The monsoon (June to September) keeps the countryside green; the expressway stays open, but allow extra time in heavy rain. In summer (April and May), start early and plan indoor visits such as the palace for the afternoon.
The Wadiyar palace in the city centre. It is lit up with thousands of bulbs on Sunday and holiday evenings, and every night during Dasara.
The Chamundeshwari temple at the top and a large monolithic Nandi on the way, with views over the city.
Terraced gardens below the KRS dam, about 20 km from the city, best visited in the evening.
Ranganathaswamy temple, Tipu Sultan's summer palace Daria Daulat Bagh and the fort ruins, on the way into Mysore.
A neo-Gothic church with twin spires, one of the largest in India.
Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, one of the oldest zoos in the country, close to the palace.
Boat rides past nesting birds on islets in the Kaveri, near Srirangapatna.
The old city market for flowers, fruit, sandalwood and Mysore silk.
