Our Wayanad to Coorg cab covers about 145 km from Kalpetta to Madikeri in 4–4.5 hours, heading north through Mananthavady and the Tholpetty forest to Kutta in Karnataka, then through south Coorg's coffee estates via Gonikoppal and Virajpet. It is a quiet, scenic route that links two of South India's best-loved hill destinations, with temple and waterfall stops along the way.

One-way fares are charged on at least 130 km. Round-trip fares are for the same car returning to Wayanad (290 km over 1 day, with a daily minimum). Toll, parking and state permit are extra.
Leaving Kalpetta, the road heads north through Panamaram or Koyilery to Mananthavady, the historic town of the Pazhassi Raja. From there it runs through Kattikulam and the Tholpetty range of the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, crossing into Karnataka at Kutta on the edge of Nagarhole. The route then climbs through Srimangala to Gonikoppal and Virajpet, the commercial heart of south Coorg, before the final hour through coffee estates to Madikeri. Elephants and deer are often seen in the forest section, which is narrow in places.
Monsoon months (June to September) turn the hills a deep green but bring mist, heavy rain and slower ghat driving on the way to Coorg; landslide closures are possible in very wet spells. October to March is the most comfortable time, while long weekends bring heavier traffic around the hill towns.
Narrow forest stretches suit an Ertiga or Innova, though sedans manage the route comfortably. Choose a Swift Dzire or Etios for light luggage and up to four travellers, an Ertiga or Innova for six to seven, or an Innova Crysta when you want the most comfortable ride over 145 km. Tempo Travellers, the Force Urbania and mini buses cover group trips.
