Our Wayanad to Bangalore cab covers about 280 km from Kalpetta in 6–7 hours, crossing the Muthanga and Bandipur forests to Gundlupet and Mysore, then speeding along the Bangalore–Mysore expressway. It is the most popular way to return to Bangalore after a Wayanad holiday, with pickups from resorts across the district and drops anywhere in the city, including the airport.

One-way fares include fuel and driver allowance (minimum 130 km). Round-trip fares are for the same car returning to Wayanad, billed at the round-trip rate with a daily minimum. Tolls, parking and interstate permits are extra where they apply. Tempo Travellers, Urbania and mini buses are available for round trips.
The trip starts with the drive from Kalpetta or your resort to Sulthan Bathery, followed by the forest section through Muthanga and Bandipur on NH766. Beyond Gundlupet and Nanjangud, drivers use the Mysore ring road and join the access-controlled expressway, which bypasses Mandya, Maddur, Channapatna and Ramanagara on the way to Bangalore. The forest crossing must be completed before evening, so departure from Wayanad is planned accordingly. City traffic from Kengeri onward depends on your destination; allow more time for north Bangalore or the airport.
Night traffic restrictions apply through the forest reserves between Wayanad and Bangalore, so plan to cross the reserves in daylight. Monsoon months bring heavy rain to the forest belt and hairpins, while October to May is generally dry. Wildlife sightings from the road are common, but drivers do not stop inside the reserve.
After a holiday with luggage, an Ertiga or Innova is a comfortable choice, and groups can book a Tempo Traveller. Choose a Swift Dzire or Etios for light luggage and up to four travellers, an Ertiga or Innova for six to seven, or an Innova Crysta when you want the most comfortable ride over 280 km. Tempo Travellers, the Force Urbania and mini buses cover group trips.
