Our Chennai to Tirupati cab covers about 135 km in 3–3.5 hours, travelling via Tiruvallur, Uthukottai and Puttur into Andhra Pradesh. It is the most popular pilgrimage drive from Chennai, used by families visiting Tirumala's Sri Venkateswara temple, the Padmavathi temple at Tiruchanur and Sri Kalahasti. We offer one-way drops and round trips, with the car waiting while you complete darshan.

One-way fares include fuel and driver allowance (minimum 130 km). Round-trip fares are for the same car returning to Chennai, billed at the round-trip rate with a daily minimum. Tolls, parking and interstate permits are extra where they apply. Tempo Travellers, Urbania and mini buses are available for round trips.
The route leaves Chennai through Poonamallee or Avadi to Tiruvallur, home to the Veeraraghava Perumal temple, then continues north-west through Uthukottai to the Andhra Pradesh border. Beyond Puttur and Vadamalapeta the road reaches Tirupati town at the foot of the Seshachalam hills. An alternative via Tiruttani passes the hilltop Murugan temple. From Tirupati, vehicles going up to Tirumala pass checks at the Alipiri gate and climb the ghat road, which has fixed opening hours, so let us know if you want to be driven up the hill.
This road is open all year. The main considerations are summer heat from March to June, when a dawn start is wise, and the occasional heavy downpour during the October–December northeast monsoon. Festival weekends add traffic near Tirupati, so book ahead if you plan to travel then.
For pilgrim families an Innova or Ertiga is popular, and larger groups often book a Tempo Traveller 12+1. Most small parties travel in a Swift Dzire or Etios. If you are carrying suitcases for a longer holiday, an Innova or Innova Crysta is worth the upgrade, and teams, pilgrim groups and wedding parties can book a Tempo Traveller 12+1, Urbania 16+1 or mini bus.
