Bangalore Airport to Tirupati Cab

For devotees flying in from other parts of India or abroad, the journey to Lord Venkateswara often begins at Kempegowda International Airport. Tirupati is about 240 km away, and a private cab gets you there in roughly five to five and a half hours without changing vehicles or waiting for a train. Savari Holidays plans the trip around your darshan slot, tracks your flight and meets you at arrivals. The driver avoids Bengaluru city by heading towards Hoskote and Kolar, and can take you to your Tirupati hotel or up the ghat road to Tirumala, subject to the temple authority's checks and timings.

Planning a pilgrimage around a flight

Darshan at Tirumala is usually booked for a fixed date and time, and many pilgrims have special entry tickets or accommodation reserved through the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). Missing a slot because of a delayed flight or a slow taxi is a real worry. When you book with us, share your darshan time along with your flight details, and we will tell you honestly whether the plan works or whether you should build in more buffer.

How the journey goes

KIA to Hoskote

Rather than entering Bengaluru, drivers usually take the road from Devanahalli to Hoskote, a quicker approach to the Kolar highway from the airport.

Through Kolar and Mulbagal

The highway runs east through Kolar and Mulbagal before crossing into Andhra Pradesh. Some drivers prefer an alternative via Chintamani and Madanapalle depending on traffic and road conditions; either way, the driver will choose the more reliable option on the day.

Palamaner, Chittoor and Tirupati

After the border the road descends from the plateau near Palamaner, passes Chittoor and reaches Tirupati town at the foot of the Seshachalam hills.

Going up to Tirumala

Tirumala sits at the top of a ghat road above Tirupati. Private vehicles, including our cabs, can usually drive up after passing the security check at Alipiri, where vehicles and luggage are screened. There are separate roads for going up and coming down, and the ghat roads are closed for a few hours late at night. Rules on timing, vehicle checks and items allowed can change, so the driver will follow the instructions in force when you travel. Pilgrims who wish to walk up via the Alipiri or Srivari Mettu footpaths can be dropped at the starting point.

Practical tips for devotees

  • Keep your darshan ticket and identity document ready; they are checked at several points.
  • Follow the traditional dress code for darshan, and check current guidelines before your trip.
  • Mobile phones, cameras and some other items are not allowed inside the temple; there are deposit counters at Tirumala.
  • If you plan to offer hair at Kalyanakatta, factor in the waiting time.
  • Elderly pilgrims and those using wheelchairs should let us know in advance so we can suggest a comfortable vehicle and plan drop points sensibly.

Airport pickup

Tell us your flight number and terminal. The driver tracks the arrival, waits at the arrivals pickup area and helps with luggage. International pilgrims can take their time through immigration and customs. We are available 24x7, which helps if you need to reach Tirupati overnight for an early-morning darshan.

Temples on and near the route

  • Kurudumale: a large Ganesha temple near Mulbagal, often visited before a Tirupati trip.
  • Kanipakam: the Varasidhi Vinayaka temple near Chittoor, a popular first stop for pilgrims to Tirumala.
  • Tiruchanur: the temple of Goddess Padmavathi, consort of Lord Venkateswara, on the edge of Tirupati.
  • Sri Kalahasti: a renowned Shiva temple about an hour from Tirupati, known for Rahu-Ketu pujas.

Choosing a vehicle

Small families and couples usually book a Swift Dzire or Toyota Etios. When elders are travelling, the extra legroom of an Innova or Innova Crysta makes the ghat climb easier. Temple groups, extended families and community pilgrimages often choose a Tempo Traveller, Force Urbania or mini bus, keeping everyone together for darshan.

Seasons and crowds

Tirumala is busy throughout the year, with peaks on weekends, public holidays, Vaikunta Ekadasi and during the annual Brahmotsavam, usually held around September or October. Summer school holidays also bring large crowds. During these periods, allow extra time for road traffic near Tirupati and for security checks at Alipiri. The weather is most comfortable from November to February. If you plan to stay overnight, Tirupati town has a wide range of hotels, while rooms at Tirumala are allotted by TTD and are best booked well in advance.

Highlights on the way

  • Trip planned around your Tirumala darshan slot
  • Bypasses Bengaluru via Hoskote towards Kolar
  • Drop at Tirupati, Alipiri footpath or Tirumala, as rules permit
  • Stops at Kurudumale, Kanipakam or Tiruchanur on request
  • Innova and tempo traveller options for elders and temple groups
