A Chennai to Bangalore cab covers about 345 km in 6–7 hours on NH48, one of South India's busiest corridors. The route passes Sriperumbudur, Vellore, Ambur and Krishnagiri before entering Karnataka at Hosur. Whether you need a one-way drop to Bangalore city, Whitefield, Electronic City or Kempegowda International Airport, it is a comfortable highway run with plenty of food stops.

One-way fares are charged on at least 130 km. Round-trip fares are for the same car returning to Chennai (690 km over 2 days, with a daily minimum). Toll, parking and state permit are extra.
The drive leaves Chennai through Poonamallee and Sriperumbudur's industrial belt, then runs west via Walajapet and Ranipet to Vellore. Beyond Vellore, the highway follows the Palar valley through Ambur and Vaniyambadi, both known for biryani, before climbing gently to Krishnagiri on the plateau. From Krishnagiri the road turns north-west to Hosur and the Karnataka border at Attibele. Sections of the new Bangalore–Chennai expressway may be used where open, and the final stretch through Electronic City or the ring roads depends on your drop location.
December to February brings the most pleasant weather for a 345 km road trip in this region. In summer, start early to avoid the afternoon heat; during the northeast monsoon from October to December, drivers slow down in heavy rain and allow extra time around low-lying town stretches.
The highway is smooth, so a sedan suits most travellers, with SUVs for families and Tempo Travellers for groups. Most small parties travel in a Swift Dzire or Etios. If you are carrying suitcases for a longer holiday, an Innova or Innova Crysta is worth the upgrade, and teams, pilgrim groups and wedding parties can book a Tempo Traveller 12+1, Urbania 16+1 or mini bus.
