Our Hassan to Mysore cab covers about 120 km in 2.5–3 hours, heading south through Holenarasipura and K.R. Nagar to the palace city. It is a quiet, rural route following the Hemavati and Kaveri river valleys, popular with travellers combining the Hoysala temples of Belur and Halebidu with Mysore sightseeing. A second route through Channarayapatna and Srirangapatna is also available.

One-way fares include fuel and driver allowance (minimum 130 km). Round-trip fares are for the same car returning to Hassan, billed at the round-trip rate with a daily minimum. Tolls, parking and interstate permits are extra where they apply. Tempo Travellers, Urbania and mini buses are available for round trips.
Leaving Hassan, the road runs south to Holenarasipura on the banks of the Hemavati, then continues through farmland, sugarcane fields and small villages to K.R. Nagar near the Kaveri. Chunchanakatte Falls lies a short distance off the road in this area. The route then enters Mysore from the north-west. The alternative goes east to Channarayapatna, then south via K.R. Pete and Pandavapura towards Srirangapatna, allowing stops at Shravanabelagola or Melukote on the way. It is longer but adds major heritage sites.
This is a comfortable drive in almost any season. Expect afternoon showers in the monsoon and pleasant, clear days from October to February. Friday evenings, Monday mornings and festival weekends are the busiest times around Mysore, so pick an off-peak slot if your plans are flexible.
A sedan is ideal for this short rural route, with Ertiga or Innova options for families of five or more. Over 2.5–3 hours on the road, seat space matters: the Ertiga suits a family of five or six, the Innova and Innova Crysta add comfort for long hauls, and the Swift Dzire or Etios keeps things simple for up to four. Groups of ten or more usually take a Tempo Traveller, Urbania or mini bus.
