A Coimbatore to Mysore cab covers about 205 km in 5–5.5 hours on NH948, crossing the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve and the Dhimbam Ghat into Karnataka. It is the shortest road between the two cities and passes Bannari, Chamarajanagar and Nanjangud. An alternative through Ooty and Bandipur is longer but very scenic, and both are available as one-way drops or round trips.

One-way fares are charged on at least 130 km. Round-trip fares are for the same car returning to Coimbatore (410 km over 1 day, with a daily minimum). Toll, parking and state permit are extra.
Leaving Coimbatore through Annur and Sathyamangalam, the road crosses farmland and coconut groves before reaching Bannari at the edge of the forest. The Dhimbam Ghat then climbs 27 hairpin bends through the Sathyamangalam reserve to Hasanur and the Karnataka border. On the plateau the route passes Chamarajanagar and the temple town of Nanjangud before entering Mysore from the south. The forest stretch is quiet and winding; elephants and gaur are sometimes seen near the road, so drivers keep speeds low and do not stop.
Season matters less than the clock on this route: night traffic restrictions apply through the forest, so the journey is built around crossing the reserve in daylight. The monsoon (June to September) adds rain and slower hairpins, and the dry months bring clearer roads and frequent wildlife sightings.
The Dhimbam hairpins are comfortable in any of our cars, though an SUV gives more room for luggage and a smoother climb. Every group size is covered for the Coimbatore to Mysore trip: Swift Dzire and Toyota Etios sedans, the seven-seater Maruti Ertiga, Toyota Innova and Innova Crysta, plus Tempo Traveller 12+1, Force Urbania 16+1 and mini buses for bigger parties.
