An Ooty to Bangalore cab brings you down from the Nilgiris to the city in about 6.5–7.5 hours, covering roughly 270 km. The route descends through Mudumalai and Bandipur tiger reserves, crosses Gundlupet and Mysore, then speeds along the Bangalore–Mysore expressway. It is the most common way to end an Ooty holiday, with drops to any part of Bangalore or Kempegowda International Airport.

One-way fares are charged on at least 130 km. Round-trip fares are for the same car returning to Ooty (540 km over 2 days, with a daily minimum). Toll, parking and state permit are extra.
From Ooty the driver takes either the steep Kalhatti Ghat to Masinagudi or the gentler road via Pykara, Naduvattam and Gudalur, depending on current regulations for the descent. Both meet near Theppakadu in Mudumalai, from where the road crosses into Karnataka through Bandipur. Gundlupet and Nanjangud lead to Mysore's ring road, and the expressway then carries you past Mandya, Maddur and Ramanagara to Bangalore's Kengeri entry. City traffic is the biggest variable at the end, particularly towards Whitefield, Electronic City or the airport at Devanahalli.
Night traffic restrictions apply through the forest reserves between Ooty and Bangalore, so plan to cross the reserves in daylight. Monsoon months bring heavy rain to the forest belt and hairpins, while October to May is generally dry. Wildlife sightings from the road are common, but drivers do not stop inside the reserve.
After a hill holiday most families carry extra luggage, so an Innova or Ertiga is a popular choice for this return trip. Over 6.5–7.5 hours on the road, seat space matters: the Ertiga suits a family of five or six, the Innova and Innova Crysta add comfort for long hauls, and the Swift Dzire or Etios keeps things simple for up to four. Groups of ten or more usually take a Tempo Traveller, Urbania or mini bus.
