Expressway or the old highway through the towns?

Since the access-controlled Bengaluru–Mysuru Expressway opened, almost every cab between the two cities uses it. The main carriageway bypasses Srirangapatna, Mandya, Maddur, Channapatna and Ramanagara, so you skip the slow stretches through town centres and the long queues that used to build up at every junction. Expect a couple of toll plazas on the way; tolls are a pass-through cost and are usually added to your bill at actuals unless your quote says otherwise.

There are still good reasons to come off at an exit. Some travellers want a plate of Maddur vade at a roadside eatery, a quick stop at the Channapatna wooden toy shops, or breakfast at one of the darshinis on the service road. Tell your driver at pickup and he will plan the exit so you lose as little time as possible.

Where in Bangalore are you going?

The expressway ends near Kengeri, and the last part of the trip depends entirely on your drop point. Rough guidance from our drivers:

  • Kengeri, RR Nagar, Banashankari, Jayanagar: close to the expressway end, often within 20 to 40 minutes.
  • Majestic, KSR Bengaluru railway station, Malleshwaram: through Mysore Road; allow extra time in the evening.
  • Electronic City, HSR Layout, Koramangala: usually via NICE Road, which avoids much of the city core.
  • Whitefield, Marathahalli, Hebbal, Yelahanka: the longest city legs; on weekday evenings the last 25 km can take as long as the expressway itself.

If you are flying out, see our separate Mysore to Bangalore Airport page, since the airport at Devanahalli is well north of the city and needs different timing.

Picking the right time to leave

Early morning departures between 5 and 7 am are the smoothest. You reach Bangalore before office traffic peaks and arrive fresh for a meeting or a hospital appointment. Late morning is fine too. The trips that run long are Friday evenings and Sunday evenings, when weekend traffic flows in both directions, and any weekday where you need to cross central Bangalore between 5 and 9 pm.

During Dasara, Mysore itself gets congested around the palace, Sayyaji Rao Road and the exhibition grounds, so pickups from the old city may need a few extra minutes. Our coordinators adjust the reporting time when you book.

One-way drop or return trip?

Most people on this route book a one-way drop: you pay for the trip you take and the driver heads back on his own. If you are going for a day of meetings, a visa interview or a shopping trip and coming back the same night, a round trip often works out simpler, because the same car and driver wait for you and you do not have to arrange a return cab separately. Multi-day round trips are also possible; the driver allowance for overnight stays is built into the round-trip fare structure.

Choosing your car

For one to four passengers

A Swift Dzire or Toyota Etios is the practical choice. Both have decent boot space for two medium suitcases and handle the expressway comfortably.

For families and extra luggage

The Maruti Ertiga seats six, while the Toyota Innova and Innova Crysta give more legroom and a smoother ride, which matters if you have elderly passengers or someone travelling after a medical procedure.

For groups

Office teams, wedding parties and college groups can book a Tempo Traveller 12+1, a Force Urbania 16+1 or a mini bus, all available with AC.

What is included

Your quoted fare covers fuel and the driver allowance. Tolls and parking are generally extra, and any waiting beyond the agreed time or detours to additional addresses should be mentioned while booking so the quote reflects them. Our support team answers calls and WhatsApp messages around the clock on +91 99725 37722, so if your plans change at the last minute you can reach a person, not a voicemail.

Highlights on the way

  • Most of the drive is on the access-controlled Bengaluru–Mysuru Expressway
  • Doorstep pickup anywhere in Mysore, drop at any Bangalore address
  • Optional exits for Maddur vade or Channapatna toy shops
  • NICE Road option for Electronic City and south-east Bangalore drops
  • Sedans, MUVs and tempo travellers on the same route

Mysore to Bangalore cab: frequently asked questions

How long does a Mysore to Bangalore cab take?

Usually about three hours to the edge of Bangalore via the expressway. The total time depends on your drop point, since reaching Whitefield or Hebbal in the evening can add an hour or more inside the city.

Are tolls included in the fare?

The expressway has toll plazas, and tolls are normally charged extra at actuals. Your booking confirmation will show exactly what is included so there are no surprises at the end of the trip.

Can the driver stop at Srirangapatna or Channapatna on the way?

Yes. A short stop for food or shopping is no problem. For a longer sightseeing halt at Srirangapatna, mention it while booking so the trip is planned and quoted accordingly.

Can I book a Mysore to Bangalore cab late at night?

Yes, we run this route 24x7. Night travel on the expressway is common and there is no forest section on this road. Just share your pickup time and address and the driver will report on time.

Is a one-way drop available, or do I have to pay for the return?

One-way drops are available on this route, so you pay only for the journey to Bangalore. If you need the car to wait and bring you back the same day, ask for a round-trip quote instead.
