Our Madurai to Coimbatore cab covers about 215 km in 4–4.5 hours, heading north-west through Dindigul, Oddanchatram, Dharapuram and Palladam. It is a straightforward highway drive to Coimbatore's airport, railway station and industrial areas, and a gateway to the Nilgiris, Isha Yoga Centre and Pollachi. An alternative via Palani and Pollachi lets you add a temple stop, and the cab can continue beyond the city on the same booking.

One-way fares are charged on at least 130 km. Round-trip fares are for the same car returning to Madurai (430 km over 1 day, with a daily minimum). Toll, parking and state permit are extra.
Leaving Madurai, the road follows NH44 to Dindigul, then turns west to Oddanchatram, one of the region's biggest vegetable markets, and Dharapuram on the Amaravathi river. The last section crosses Palladam's textile belt before entering Coimbatore via Sulur or Singanallur. The Palani alternative turns off at Oddanchatram for the hill temple, then continues via Udumalpet and Pollachi through coconut groves with the Anamalai hills on the horizon. Either way, the driver can continue beyond Coimbatore to Isha, Mettupalayam or Ooty on the same booking.
Summer afternoons on the Madurai–Coimbatore stretch are hot, which is why many travellers leave at dawn and arrive before the midday heat. October to December is the northeast monsoon season, when heavy rain can slow traffic for a few hours; the cooler months from December to February are ideal.
A sedan is comfortable on this highway, while families and pilgrim groups often choose an Innova or Tempo Traveller. Over 4–4.5 hours on the road, seat space matters: the Ertiga suits a family of five or six, the Innova and Innova Crysta add comfort for long hauls, and the Swift Dzire or Etios keeps things simple for up to four. Groups of ten or more usually take a Tempo Traveller, Urbania or mini bus.
