Coimbatore has its own airport, yet a steady number of travellers bound for Kovai land at Kempegowda International Airport instead, drawn by more international routes and flexible timings. From there, a private cab is often the quickest way to finish the trip without waiting for a connection. The drive covers about 400 km, mostly on the multi-lane highway through Hosur, Krishnagiri and Salem, and usually takes seven to eight hours. Savari Holidays tracks your flight, meets you outside arrivals and takes you door to door, whether you are headed to an office in the city, a home in RS Puram or the Isha Yoga Centre.

One-way fares include fuel and driver allowance (minimum 130 km). Round-trip fares are for the same car returning to Bangalore Airport, billed at the round-trip rate with a daily minimum. Tolls, parking and interstate permits are extra where they apply. Tempo Travellers, Urbania and mini buses are available for round trips.
Coimbatore is one of South India's busiest industrial cities, known for textiles, pumps, engineering and education. Business travellers, students and families returning from abroad often find that a flight into Bengaluru followed by a road transfer fits their schedule better than waiting for a connection. Spiritual visitors also use this route to reach the Isha Yoga Centre and the Adiyogi statue at the foot of the Velliangiri hills, and others continue on into Kerala via Palakkad.
The first task is getting from the airport, north of Bengaluru, to Hosur on the city's southern border. Depending on the time of day, the driver either skirts the eastern side of the city or takes the elevated expressway on Hosur Road past Electronic City. During off-peak hours this can take around an hour and a half; in heavy traffic, longer.
Once in Tamil Nadu, the six-lane NH 44 runs past Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri to Salem. It is one of the smoothest long stretches in the region, with plenty of highway restaurants for a meal break.
From Salem, NH 544 continues past Sankagiri, the Erode bypass and Perundurai before entering Coimbatore near Avinashi Road. Traffic builds as you approach the city, especially in the evening.
Some drivers know a shorter-looking path via Mysore, Chamarajanagar and the Dhimbam ghat to Sathyamangalam. It passes through forest areas where night travel is restricted, and the 27 hairpin bends on the ghat are slow going. For airport pickups we normally stick to the Salem route, which is open around the clock and easier on tired passengers.
This trip begins in Karnataka and ends in Tamil Nadu. Our vehicles carry the necessary interstate permits, and the driver deals with any border formalities. Our team can explain how tolls and permit charges are handled on your booking before you confirm.
We drop anywhere in the city, including Gandhipuram, RS Puram, Peelamedu, Saravanampatti, Race Course and Singanallur, as well as the Coimbatore Junction railway station. Further destinations such as the Isha Yoga Centre, Mettupalayam, Pollachi or Palakkad can be arranged too. If you are continuing up to Ooty or Coonoor, it is worth discussing the timing so the hill drive happens in daylight.
For one or two travellers on business, a Swift Dzire or Toyota Etios is a sensible choice. Families with luggage, or anyone who wants to rest on a long drive, will be more comfortable in an Ertiga, Innova or Innova Crysta. Corporate teams, college groups and pilgrimage parties heading to Isha or Velliangiri can book a Tempo Traveller, Force Urbania or mini bus.
Coimbatore enjoys a fairly mild climate compared with much of Tamil Nadu, thanks to the Palakkad Gap that channels breezes from the west. Summer afternoons on the Salem highway are hot, though, so keep water handy. During festivals like Pongal in January, the highway gets busy with holiday traffic; booking early helps.
A large bust of Shiva and a meditation centre at the foot of the Velliangiri hills, about an hour from the city.
A hilltop temple to Lord Murugan on the western edge of Coimbatore, with views over the city.
An old Shiva temple known for its carved pillars in the Kanaka Sabha hall.
A temple at the confluence of the Kaveri and Bhavani rivers near Erode, on the way from Salem.
A forest waterfall west of the city, fed by the Siruvani river; entry depends on forest department permissions.
About 400 km. The drive via Hosur, Krishnagiri and Salem usually takes seven to eight hours, depending on traffic getting out of Bengaluru.
That route passes through forest areas with night-time restrictions and a slow hairpin ghat. The Salem highway is open around the clock and is more comfortable after a flight.
Yes. The Isha Yoga Centre is about an hour west of central Coimbatore, and we can drop you directly there. Mention it when booking.
The vehicle carries the permits needed to travel from Karnataka into Tamil Nadu, and the driver handles the formalities. Our team can explain how these charges are handled for your trip.
Yes. Ooty is about three hours from Coimbatore via Mettupalayam. We recommend planning it so the ghat section is driven in daylight.
